We are thrilled that Saadiq Mohiuddin has joined us as a cloud engineer! Over the last year, we've organically doubled the size of our engineering team. We hire engineers with top-shelf technical chops who are just as impatient as we are to make the biggest impact possible with the best available data.
Saadiq immediately jumped in to help us build the Visualization, Exploration, and Data Analysis (VEDA) project with NASA IMPACT. As part of the VEDA team, Saadiq is helping NASA and their partners to migrate important earth observation data to the cloud in analysis-ready, cloud-optimized (ARCO) formats. His work is essential to advancing open science in many areas, including greenhouse gas monitoring, environmental justice, and other climate science domains.
Previously, Saadiq worked in government as a transportation engineer/project manager delivering transportation projects and for Sparkgeo as an ML engineer. He's passionate about urban sustainability, transportation systems, and climate change mitigation. His broad experience and knowledge have already been hugely helpful to us, and we are excited to grow our impact in these areas. Saadiq is excited to attend the World Forum on Urban Forests in Washington, DC, in October.
Saadiq graduated from the University of Calgary with a civil engineering degree and is pursuing his MS in computer science at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He's a professional engineer (P.Eng.) registered in Alberta and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Outside work, Saadiq enjoys spending time with his family in Calgary, traveling, and experimenting with espresso recipes.
