We're heading down South to New Zealand for the Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial, State of the Map (FOSS4G SotM) Oceania 2023 conference happening 16-20 October in Auckland! Excited to learn and share from the OSGeo and OpenStreetMap communities on open geospatial datasets and open source tools for making maps, and catch some of the latest trends in data analytics and GeoAI.

Our team at DevSeed have been busy innovating on GeoAI models and tools over the last two years, from Human-in-the-loop products to integrating the SegmentAnything Model (SAM) into DS-Annotate, and more! We recognize that Machine Learning is especially data hungry, and the shift to a data proximate processing paradigm needs to be accompanied by tools for low-latency streaming data transfers and highly-parallel on-demand processing, while accounting for increasingly common multi-modal tasks that combine inputs from different remote sensing sensors and/or even natural language inputs. Machine Learning Engineer Wei Ji Leong will be in-person at FOSS4G SotM Oceania to talk about some of the open source tools we've developed together with the Pangeo ML community that will advance the next generation of cloud-native geospatial Machine Learning workflows.

What: The ecosystem of geospatial machine learning tools in the Pangeo world
When: Wednesday, 18 October 2023, 13:50–14:15 (Pacific/Auckland)
Where: Te Iringa (Wave Room - WG308), Auckland University of Technology (AUT)

We are excited to share what is possible when designing from the ground-up for a GPU-native world that would accelerate computations for challenging tasks like numerical modelling for future climate projections. If you are at FOSS4G SotM Oceania, be sure to stop by at Wei Ji's talk and say hi!

What we're doing.
