Simi is a full stack web application engineer that’s currently focused on UI at Development Seed. She has an enthusiasm for co-developing metrics-driven “experiments” that focus on climate resiliency via sustainable agriculture and food waste mitigation. At Development Seed she'll to continue enabling those experiments and make those learnings more publicly accessible.

Just prior to joining Development Seed, Simi collaborated with scientists and engineers at Regrow Agriculture to develop a web application that facilitates carbon abatement at scale for international CPGs and agribusinesses. She’s grateful for the colleagues that introduced her to the myriad of open datasets and GIS tooling that informed their work.

Her journey in sustainable agriculture began while on sabbatical working on an urban farm in Austin, Texas. She crossed paths with Eric Goff hauling fresh compost on a bike. His business collected food waste from residential customers and provided the resulting compost to urban farms and community gardens … at no cost. Their small team left a big mark on Simi, shedding light on the impact that simple solutions, sharing resources and just getting started can have. Austin now has a city-wide curbside composting program!

After moving from Austin to Berkeley, California, Simi carried the torch, managing field operations at a local farm focused on biodynamic practices and food security, and then as a full stack engineer at Imperfect Foods, a grocery platform focused on food rescue. She continues to manage a home garden and share produce through a neighborhood network with her trusty gravel bike.
