Leo is a data and ML engineer at Development Seed. He builds the ML infrastructure and agentic systems that make scientific data accessible and actionable at scale. His recent work spans Global Nature Watch, an open AI-powered monitoring platform developed with WRI's Land & Carbon Lab that gives conservationists plain-language access to complex temporal analysis across a vast range of peer-reviewed biodiversity and land cover datasets; computer vision pipelines for wildlife conservation through remote sensing; and NASA's Accelerated Knowledge Discovery (AKD) platform, an LLM agent framework designed to help scientists navigate and accelerate complex research workflows. Leo is particularly excited by LLM agent frameworks, computer vision operationalization for conservation science, and cloud-native ML infrastructure that scales at cost.

Leo enjoys talking at conferences about cloud optimized data and compute infrastructure, agentic frameworks and software engineering best practices. He recently spoke at FedGeoDay about agents.

Before joining Development Seed, Leo worked at a drone tech startup in Beirut and a 3D printing startup in Paris, where he managed cloud infrastructure, built data pipelines, and provided analysis to drive business decisions.

Based in Washington, DC, Leo holds a BSc in Physics and Computer Science from McGill University. When he isn't coding, you can find him surfing, playing water polo, rock climbing, or cooking.
