James is a developer focused on building geographic systems to visualize the world’s natural resources. He’s committed to building open data platforms for technical and non-technical users alike. With a background in international development, environmental management, and software development, James looks at projects with an eye to both their technological and their policy implications.

Prior to joining Development Seed, James managed development, data analysis, and cartography on projects for the World Bank, Woodrow Wilson Center, Amnesty International, and other groups focused on supply chain analysis, humanitarian response, and human rights monitoring. More recently, he worked on building platforms to crowdsource monitoring of logging and mining in the Congo Basin.

James is a graduate of Middlebury College, where he studied Political Science.
