Ian is a data analyst at Development Seed, where he bridges his experience working with large data sets and passion for beautiful design to turn data into meaningful visualizations. He specializes in spatial data analysis and manipulation, using tools like GDAL, PostGIS, and TileMill in his map making.
Ian developed a love for geography while studying soil science at Georgetown University. He spent time as a research assistant in Belize, traipsing through the rainforest to study ancient Mayan wetland agriculture, and performed undergraduate research in spatially-explicit soil erosion models.
On the weekends, Ian enjoys live audio mixing and playing jazz, rock, and R&B on guitar and ukelele.
