Chris is a cloud engineer at Development Seed. He is passionate about using Earth observation and geospatial data to understand and improve human and natural ecosystems. He has focused on empowering science by building visualization tools, data pipelines, machine learning systems, and cloud services that connect insights to stakeholders.
Before joining the team Chris worked as a remote sensing scientist studying land cover change, switching hats between researcher, teacher, and software developer. He most recently worked as a backend software engineer at Indigo Ag, supporting scientists and building data and machine learning services for sustainable agriculture.
Beyond work, Chris enjoys music, basketball, running, kayaking, and relaxing with his partner and cat. He has a PhD in Geography and a MA in GIS and Remote Sensing from Boston University.
