Anton was a Summer 2026 intern, where he explored how openEO could be used to quantify the climate impact of forest fires in Portugal. His project used the difference in normalized burn ratio (dNBR) between pre- and post-fire satellite imagery to detect burned areas and applied a machine learning classifier through a user-defined function (UDF) to reconstruct the forest composition before the fire.

Anton is a recent graduate of the Erasmus Mundus Master's in Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Societies. With a background in AI and data science, he is passionate about applying technical expertise to sustainability challenges. Since completing his master's thesis, he has focused on working with environmental data and satellite imagery.

Outside of work, Anton enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, hiking, and exploring a wide variety of board games, card games, and video games.
