Alex Mandel is a geospatial engineer at Development Seed. He has extensive experience with geospatial data including collection, management, analysis, and visualization. His focus is on open source, open data, and open science, primarily in agricultural, and natural resource contexts. He believes in empowering appropriate applications of technology in striving for sustainability.
Previously, Alex provided scientific computing support at the University of California, Davis. He worked with researchers and partner organizations on electronic field data collection, Remote Piloted Aerial Systems (RPAS, aka drones), sensor networks, satellite data processing, and scalable computing projects.
Alex has a Ph.D in Geography and a B.S. in Wildlife, Fisheries, and Conservation Biology from the University of California, Davis.
