ESIP is a fantastic community connecting passionate people interested in various Earth science topics. We participate in ESIP events throughout the year. The in-person summer meeting, the online winter meeting, and cluster meetings (also known as “Collaboration Areas”) have been important ways to stay connected to other folks in the Earth sciences. We have also enjoyed the wonderful support of our team members and our organization by ESIP staff and colleagues. Aimee Barciauskas has co-chaired the cloud computing cluster for the last 2.5 years, and we always enjoy the discussions with the folks who participate.
So it goes without saying that you’ll see us at the ESIP Summer Meeting in person in Burlington, VT. We’re excited to continue conversations around cloud-native geospatial data in multiple sessions throughout the week and learn from and connect with the many folks doing great work in the cloud-native space. Aimee and Michelle Roby from Radiant Earth are co-presenting on the cloud-native landscape and best practices. Aimee, Michelle, and Emma Paz (first-time ESIP attendee!) will also be helping with the cloud-native tutorials session because what could be better than giving even more people the ability to work with geospatial data in the cloud? Sean Harkins will also be in attendance and would love to talk about opinionated geospatial data infrastructure.
We’re saddened to see the devastation of flash flooding in Vermont this past week. Therefore the sessions on Opening Doors to Climate Preparedness in Small Communities and Informed Decisions Around Climate Risk feel particularly relevant. We’re also looking forward to the session on data strategies and learning about the sharing challenges at the federal level. Virtual registration is still open if you’d like to join these sessions. Please say hi if you will be in person - we’d love to chat.
