It’s shaping up to be another unbelievably hot week in Washington, DC. Luckily there are several interesting technology events happening to give you something to look forward to. Below is a roundup of our picks for the week, and you can find a full calendar at DC Tech Events.

Tuesday, August 2

7:00 pm

DC Tech Meetup : This month’s meetup will focus on educational technology, with an interview with a DC school teacher and demos of tools like Campus Splash, Rosetta Stone, and TalkChalk. Come out to learn more about technology for education and to connect with other folks involved in the DC tech space.

Wednesday, August 3

6:00 pm

MoDevDC : Interested in developing apps for mobile phones? This meetup brings folks together to talk about this, with an emphasis on iPhone, Android, Windows, and SmartPhone technologies. This month’s event will feature talks on iPad UI development tricks and cross provider SMS APIs.

7:00–9:00 pm

DC Geo Meetup : Interested in maps, data visualizations, and all things geo? Come out to this meetup to talk with likeminded folks and to hear short talks on topics like 3D maps, geospatial applications built on Ruby, and a walk through of our latest map release showing violence against journalists in Afghanistan.

Thursday, August 4

6:30–8:30 pm

Through Our Eyes Exhibit: The Tiziano Project: Fellow Knight News Challenge winner The Tiziano Project will kick off an exhibit at the Iraqi Cultural Center this week. The project aims to capture accounts of the lives of Arab, Kurd, and Assyrian people living in Northern Iraq through accounts, photographs, and more taken by Iraqi student reporters.

7:00 pm

DC Drupal Training : Our friends at Phase2 Technology are hosting a Drupal training on how to use the Context, Spaces, and Admin modules for improved site building. If you’re using Drupal and aren’t using these modules yet, you’ll want to check this out.
