Unfortunately I wasn’t able to write the Week in DC Tech roundup until just now, meaning that I missed events like the DC Tech Meetup last night on big data. However, there are a lot technology events happening this week that I want to post about — so here goes. The better late than never Week in DC Tech roundup : )
Friday, June 10
7:00–10:00 pm
WhereCampDC Ignite Spatial : Want to get up to speed on mapping technologies, fast? Come out to Ignite Spatial for a series of five minutes talks on 14 different topics like making a 3D mobile map of Washington, DC and tracking the Spanish Revolution through maps. We’ll be there to talk about our open source tool TileMill, and how you can use it to create custom maps like these.
Saturday, June 11
9:00 am — 8:00 pm
Health 2.0 Developer Challenge : This codathon is a great chance to hack on some newly opened APIs and public and private healthcare data-sets, with the goal of building useful and meaningful health care applications. More info on open health data set is available here.
10:00 am — 5:00 pm
WhereCampDC : Like to hack on maps, GIS, and open data? This day long unconference is a great opportunity to meet other geo developers, hear about what they’re working on, and work on code.
5:30–8:00 pm
WhereCampDC Happy Hour : This happy hour will wrap up a weekend of WhereCamp. Whether you’re a mapmaker, geo developer, GIS enthusiast, or just generally interested in mapping, come hang out with likeminded folks at the Big Hunt’s side bar. $3 beers + rail drinks will make it a real Saturday happy hour.
What we're doing.
