Ranging from a #FAILfaire to Drupal4Gov (where we’ll present on TileMill) to a hacking day, there are lots of interesting events this week in Washington, DC to brighten your week. See below for our picks, and check out DC Tech Events for a full run down.

NetSquared Meetup: April #FAIL : It’s easy to find someone talking about a wonderfully successful project, but it’s much harder to get the scoop on one that totally bombed. This month’s NetSquared meetup will be looking at those spectacular failures, in an effort to educate others not to go down the same path.
Wednesday, April 20

Drupal4Gov Meetup : This half day coding and documentation sprint will combine learning with doing. It will kick off with lightning talks walking through how to do things like theme — and create custom maps with our open source map design studio TileMill — and then dive into coding and documentation where folks will work together to improve open government tools and resources.
5:00–8:00 pm
DC Tech Connections : Want to just network, and not listen to presentations or an organized format? That’s what this happy hour is — an opportunity to be in the same room and connect with tech folks. Plain and simple.
Thursday, April 21
6:00 pm
Hacker News Readers Startup Showcase : See what other startup tech folks are up to in the city. This meetup will showcase a new web animation tool by the author of the Land of Lisp, and a new startup that combines gaming with retail called PlayPass.

Refresh DC : This month’s Refresh meetup is all about data visualization, one of our favorite topics. Phase2 Technology will present on data visualization strategy and will show off examples of excellent visualizations that have been created with open source tools.
Saturday, April 23

DevHouse DC #4 : Getting tired of geeking out by yourself on the weekends? Come to this get together to hang with other tech folks to work on personal project, share what you’ve created, and brainstorm what’s next.
