Most of us have been back to work for at least a week post holidays now, and the end of winter is no where in site. So why not cheer up with some fun technology events this week? You can build a unicorn and enjoy the last holiday party of the season, or get down to work and make your website more accessible. Below is a roundup of these events, and you can find a full list of what’s happening at DC Tech Events.
Wednesday, January 12
7:00 pm
PHP Developer’s Community Meetup : This month’s php community meetup will help you answer the question: is your website accessible. The event will include an overview on what you need to make your website accessible, Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility 2.0 guidelines, and how technologies like JAWS and Dragon Naturally Speaking can help get you there.
Thursday, January 13
5:00–8:00 pm
Mashable Holiday Meetup : Who said all the good holiday parties were in December? Come out to Mashable’s holiday party to hang out with local tech folks and enjoy some drinks and appetizers.
Saturday, January 15
3:00–6:00 pm
HacDC Unicorn Build : This weekend HacDC will answer the question “what do you get when you cross My Little Pony and a soldering iron?” by building one. You’ll have to attend to find out what the answer is — but they’re hoping the answer is something similar to a “unicorn of glittery magical cyborg eutectic alloy-melting power!”
