Yesterday I presented to the IBM Drupal Users Group (IDUG) on improving configuration management in Drupal using the Features module. The goal of my talk was to expose people to the process and concepts involved in using Features and exportables to manage configuration, and to review other related and helpful tools like Ctools, Strongarm, and Context, Feature servers, and Drush make. I am posting my slides here for others to check out, since exportables are becoming a best practice for configuration management.

I was particularly happy to talk to IBM’s team since they had written a set of articles on Drupal back in 2006 on IBM’s developer works. One installment in this series which piqued my interest even back in 2006 was focused on Drupal deployment issues.

What we're doing.
