The year is starting to come to a close, and you can certainly tell by taking a look at the technology events happening this week. On top of the holiday related ones, there are just a ton of technology meetups happening this week, with everyone squeezing things in before the holidays get into full swing next week. Monday, December 14

1:00–5:00 pm

Facebook Developer Garage : Facebook is hosting a Developer Garage today to test out government focused apps that would help deliver government services — just head over to join in. Some of Facebook’s engineers will also be there and will talk about some planned changes to the platform.

7:00–9:00 pm

Drupal Meetup : Come out for tonight’s meetup to meet local Drupal developers, here some real life examples of what’s being built with the platform, and find out more about how Drupal and the community work.

Tuesday, December 15

5:30–7:00 pm

New Media Law 2009 + Cocktails : Media Future Now is hosting a holiday party! Come out for a discussion on copyright, trademark, data ownership, privacy and cookies, digital content, technology law, social media policies, regulation of bloggers, fair use, and, of course, cocktails.

Partly Cloudy With a Chance of Semantics : This month’s semantic meetup will feature a presentation on what’s going on in the world of cloud computing and the semantic web. There will also be an announcement about the “Year 2010 of Semantic Web Training and Pilots” for Data.gov/semantic.

Wednesday, December 16

6:30 pm

DC Media Makers December Meeting : Two creators of a feature-length fan film — Browncoats: Redemption will be at this meetup talking about how they’re promoting their film. They’ll be on talking about what the editing process has been like, how they’re promoting the trailer, what the online community is like, and where they see this going. You’ll also get a chance to watch the trailer.

DC Geo Meetup : Into mapping? Come out for the meetup to get to know the local mapping community, learn about what they’re doing professionally, and hear how to get involved in some local community mapping efforts.

CiviCRM Meetup : Want to connect with other CiviCRM developers and users, or just learn more about the open source CRM? Then check out this meetup. There will be a talk on how to develop a plan to implement CiviCRM at your own organization.
