We’re excited to welcome Michael as project manager! Michael is passionate about projects that are user-focused, from geospatial issues that help tackle climate change to human rights issues in East Asian countries. He has a varied background in research and analysis, cybersecurity, technology, data science, and project management.

At Development Seed, Michael will expand our ability to deliver complex projects in a way that hasn’t been possible before. His main goal will be to work alongside our development teams to ensure they have everything they need to build meaningful products. By bringing his experience in delivering projects within a variety of large organizations, knowledge of agile principles, and team-first mindset, Michael will be a huge asset in helping our partners bring their vision into reality.

Michael has experience in managing a multitude of geospatial-focused projects, ranging from assisting a client in identifying how solar storms would affect satellites to brainstorming ways to use satellite imagery to identify crops growing in a field to support the USDA. He has managed a variety of small and large projects, such as a data science project for an animal rescue nonprofit as well as a large data project at Facebook. As a data scientist, one project Michael worked on could identify a vehicle based only on the sound of its exhaust.

Michael lived in Taiwan for three years and loves learning new languages. He speaks Chinese and Spanish, along with a little Russian and French. Michael’s travel adventures have taken him paragliding in Ecuador and to a town in Laos where every restaurant played episodes of Friends on repeat.

Join me in welcoming Michael to the team! 👋
