Nate Smith

Nate is a researcher and data lead at Development Seed, where he helps strategize and manage our data and mapping projects. He specializes in working with large data sets and developing unique data visualizations. He works closely with the mapping tools available from MapBox and helps transfer knowledge directly to the client. Nate brings technical knowledge of survey design, spatial data collection, and data analysis to each project.

Nate also has rich international experience in data collection and analysis. Before joining Development Seed, Nate worked on projects in Haiti, Kenya, Morocco, and Thailand with humanitarian and academic organizations. He most recently spent time living and working in Kenya on several community mapping and spatial data projects.

Nate received a master’s degree in public health from George Washington University in Washington, DC. His studies focused on global health management, humanitarian relief, and data analysis. He enjoys learning new tools and taking on challenging projects.
