Resources for Shops Selling Open Atrium Services

Growing the Open Atrium Developer Base

We just launched the Shop Resources group on Community.OpenAtrium.com. It’s a space designed to help businesses provide better Open Atrium services. As Open Atrium adoption continues to increase, we want to help grow the base of businesses that are the driving force behind Open Atrium development, and we hope a space like this with free resources helps do that.

Shop Resources on Community.OpenAtrium.com

For developers

In the Shop Resources space, you can post that you provide Open Atrium services and share notable sites you have built with Open Atrium. We also wanted to ensure that development shops have the best resources to market Open Atrium, so we opened up some internal resources including some sample proposal text, presentation slide decks, full bleed color handouts, swag designs, and copies of Open Atrium press reviews. We hope these resources help you look good at every step of the pitch including Open Atrium.

What’s next

We have a lot more to do to make this better. Most pressing on our minds is the need for a Features directory that people can use to browse custom features that have been built for Open Atrium. We plan to build a Features server aggregator that will let people building Features and running their own Feature servers more easily aggregate their work on Community.OpenAtrium.com - like a decentralized apps store.

Whatever else we do as we work to grow the Open Atrium business base, we believe that the wider community of development shops and collaborative spaces like Community.OpenAtrium.com will remain the most valuable pieces. Trading business ideas and resources is a big part of what has helped so many shops like ours grow over the years. I remember how useful it was in Development Seed’s early days to trade proposal tricks and ideas on how to explain the awesomeness of Drupal to potential clients back at the first Drupal Camp NYC in May 2005 with folks like Zack, Noel, Andrew, Gregory, Liza and many more that I should be remembering. We hope this forum for shops selling Open Atrium services can provide a similar vibe, albeit without the beer…

If you have ideas to share or anything else to offer to others, please add it to the documents section or post on the blog. If you have questions or are looking for feedback on your ideas for how you’re selling Open Atrium, email us at info@openatrium.com. We will also be conducting some Open Atrium BOFs at DrupalCon SF about marketing Open Atrium and sharing detailed roadmaps for developers. We’re excited to catch up with everyone there are in the new Shop Resources space.
