It may be August, but there is a lot going on this week. In addition to it being Restaurant Week and the start of Beer Week, there are also a lot of technology events happening. Tuesday, August 17

Making a Mobile Website: This meetup will show you how to make a mobile version of your website so that it’s accessible and attractive whether you use your computer or your smart phone to visit it. The talk will cover do-it-yourself options, online toolkits, hosted options, and reputable mobile design firms.

NSCoderNightDC: Come out and join a discussion on Mac and iPhone development, Cocoa, and the latest Mac and iPhone news. Justin will be there talking in part about the KML parsing library he released last week for the iOS Platform.

NetSquared’s SpeedGeek Show and Tell: Want to play the field of website strategy? Come out for speed dating for geeks, where you’ll run through several quick presentations on specific websites and their strategy and have time to give presenters your thoughts and feedback.

iPhone/Android/Smartphone Developer Meetup: At this meetup folks will share their best practices, tricks, and strategies for mobile development across platforms, like for the iPhone, android, and smartphone.

7:00 pm

DC PHP Developer’s Community Meetup: This month’s php developer’s meetup will take a look at the new WordPress 3.0, diving into what can be done with the platform and discussing tricks for best leveraging it to build on.

Friday, August 20

6:00 pm

A Nerd Nite DC Special Event: DC Beer Week starts this weekend, and Nerd Nite is kicking it off by hosting a night of learning about beer while drinking beer at the Rock and Roll Hotel. There will be talks on the history of craft beer in the United States, the science of brewing beer, and the effect drinking beer has on your brain, and as usual local bands will play throughout the night.
