Islamabad Drupal Meetup Sunday: Adding Urdu to Open Atrium + Mapping Tools for NGOs

ڈروپل اسلام آباد ملاقات

The August Islamabad Drupal meetup will take place this Sunday, August 23rd, at 10:30am at the Crown Plaza Hotel Blue Area in Islamabad. Eric will be in Pakistan at the time and will stop in to talk about how NGOs can use Open Atrium to communicate with their geographically dispersed branches, give an update on the progress of the Urdu version of Open Atrium, and discuss mapping tools.

Islamabad Drupal meetup

The possibilities for Drupal in the international development space in Pakistan are very exciting, particularly from a long term sustainability perspective with the opportunity for tools used by both U.S. and local nonprofits in these efforts to be supported and expanded by local developers. With the USAID push into Pakistan thanks to the Enhanced Partnership with Pakistan Act 2009 sponsored by John Kerry and Richard Lugar, there is a real focus on building local capacity. This is a huge opportunity for open source software to progress in the country, with serious financial resources backing it.

Eric will be posting photos on flickr after the event.
