Aegir in action - Watch a screencast of the first alpha of the 0.2 release

Aegir solves the problem of managing a large number of Drupal sites

The Aegir project just released the first alpha of the 0.2 release today. You can read the release announcement for more in depth information, but to celebrate, I prepared the following screencast of some of the features contained in this release, and some we have had for a while. We want to give people a taste of exactly what it is capable of. :) After all, if a picture says a thousand words, a video should be analogous to a novel.

This video shows off not just our ability to spawn new Drupal sites by simply filling in a form, but some of the more exciting and new features such as the ability to manage multiple releases of Drupal, and to automate upgrades of sites to new releases. I also show some of the experimental features we have working, such as the ability to manage multiple servers.

For those new to Aegir, you are the targeted audience if you answer yes to any of the fallowing:

  • Ever get tired of manually managing your Drupal sites?
  • Does the hair on the back of your neck stand up every time a new security release is made?
  • Ever wished someone would just automate all the grunt work in keeping your sites up to date and secure?

Turn out, you’re in luck! Check out groups.drupal.org/aegir to get a sense of all development progress so far.

We will get another video up in a couple days walking through how to install Aegir. Keep your eyes on the blog for the next release.

superb

superb work Adrian.

Amazing project

I can not find the right words to define how nice, helpful, useful and so on this project is. There’s here an amazing tool to democratize/ease the spread of Drupal sites. I’m really looking forward for the install screencast!
